Klek
Klek is a small Mediterranean place situated in the beautiful bay at the main road between Split and Dubrovnik (70 km far from Dubrovnik and The nearest airport is Ćilipi – Dubrovnik 85 km) which is densely overgrown with olive trees, mulberry trees and vine. It is located in the district Slivno, in Dubrovnik-Neretva county, right by the border of the Republic of Croatia with Bosnia and Herzegovina. It has about 200 inhabitants, who are occupated in raising various kinds of fruits and vegetables, fishing and tourism.
There are the ruins of the old city Smrdan above Klek – these are well preserved walls probably from a Venetian fortress, which served for supervising the entrance to the Gulf of Neum. In its desolate inside there is the church of St Mary. Big pebble beach is stretched throughout the length of the place like a big smile. The beach is arranged and visitors are offered the possibility of hiring jet-skis, pedal boats, parasols, deck chairs and bikes.
Aside from bathing and water recreation tourists have access to four tennis courts, a miniature golf course, a table tennis court, a bowling court as well as the children playground. There is a big parking place in the centre of the place, in the shadow of the olive trees. In Klek aside from the private accommodation you can find resorts in two smaller hotels. A few restaurants, coffee bars, a pastry shop, a pizzeria, two mini-market, a clinic, a post-office, an exchange office, the newsagent's and stalls with fresh fruits and vegetables are also at your service.
